Start by participating in one of Vancouver’s most enduring Christmas traditions, The Carol Ship Parade!  Dozens of private and commercial vessels decked out in their finest Christmas lights, decorations and sound systems, take to the inland water ways around Vancouver for three weeks in December every year.  All three of the Harbour Cruises vessels embrace the festivities with decorations from bow to stern and celebrate the annual tradition with nightly dinner or dinner and dance cruises that feature live Christmas Carolers to lead you in all the Yuletide favourites.

Head over the Lions Gate Bridge to Celebrate Canyon Lights, A Winter Festival November 23, 2017 to January 28, 2018 at Capilano Suspension Bridge Park.  Re-capture the feeling of wonder and excitement of the holiday season and be amazed by the hundreds of thousands of lights throughout the park. The suspension bridge, Treetops Adventure, Cliffwalk, the rainforest and canyon are transformed into a world of festive lights and visual enchantment.

This year the 30-ton Douglas firs of Treetops Adventure receive star treatment. Treetops Adventure is a series of seven suspension bridges attached to eight 250 years old Douglas-firs with viewing platforms, reaching up to 110 feet above the forest floor. These magnificent Douglas firs will be lit above and below the collars, making these trees the eight tallest Christmas trees in the world!

Back by popular demand, go on a Snowy Owl Prowl, decorate gingerbread cookies (by donation)  and sing-along carols with the holiday band.  Two new children’s activities this year include decorating wooden ornaments and make your own holiday badge (by donation) in the Winter Craft Tent.  Tickets can be purchased here, or visit capbridge.com for special family pricing.

Experience one of Vancouver’s most spectacular holiday celebrations at the VanDusen Festival of Lights, a magical winter wonderland with over one million lights decorating VanDusen Botanical Garden open from December 1, 2017 to January 7, 2018. Old-Fashioned Fun plus Light Displays at Burnaby Village Museum, November 25 – January 5, 2018 Join us this Heritage Christmas for a season of old-fashioned fun and spectacular light displays. A stroll down the streets of the Village is magical; the 1920s style lights, the cedar boughs, wreaths and big red bows are welcoming. Window displays and inside scenes highlight winter and Christmas items of times past. The light displays throughout the site will amaze and delight. There are lacy white lights, some that are clear multi-coloured, while others twinkle and change colour.   Enjoy a visit with Father Christmas, a    live performance in Brookfield Hall and a Holiday-Sing-Along help round out daily entertainment.  Check on line burnabyvillagemuseum.com for the special event calendar.  Admission is free, but carousel tickets can be purchased here or at the gate.
