Watch live demonstrations at Wagner’s Blacksmith Shop, visit the Indigenous Learning House, and discover historic businesses such as the Way Sang Yuen Wat Kee Chinese Herbalist. Step inside the 1893 Love Farmhouse to experience life on a family farm, climb aboard the 1912 interurban tram, and enjoy a ride on the beautifully restored 1912 C.W. Parker Carousel. Designed for visitors of all ages, the museum offers engaging, hands on experiences that encourage learning through exploration, participation and discovery. As the primary historical resource for the City of Burnaby, Burnaby Village Museum encourages understanding, appreciation and enjoyment of Burnaby’s unique history. Visit Vancouver’s oldest cultural institution—a gathering space that fosters connection, learning, and new experiences of Vancouver’s diverse communities and histories.Current Exhibitions:The Work of Repair: Redress &amp; Repatriation at the Museum of Vancouver features the MOV’s history of repatriation; the impact of a repatriation to the Tŝilhqot’in community; a community engagement initiative about traditional knowledge; and another showing Indigenous belongings now reunited with their histories. Reconciliation is multifaceted, and this exhibition explores how MOV is working to move beyond its history as a colonial institution. The Suitcase Project asks, “What would you pack if you were forcibly removed from your home today?” In 1942, approximately 23,000 Japanese Canadians and more than 100,000 Japanese Americans living on the west coast were uprooted from their homes and placed in internment camps or incarceration. Photographed by Kayla Isomura, subjects for The Suitcase Project were given 24 to 48 hours’ notice to assemble their things, similar to what many Japanese Canadians faced in 1942.

An unforgettable experience for the entire family, listen to the stories of Vancouver past in our pagoda phone booth, snap a photo in our recreated early-20th-century studio, and follow along the etiquette of a traditional Chinese banquet at our projection installation. Guests can also experience the vibrant sights and sounds of Chinatown throughout different eras in our augmented reality app. Featured Exhibits Our Journey Continues special exhibit: Our Journey Continues marks 100 years after the Chinese Immigration Act. Yucho Chow Photography Studio: Chinatown's first and most prolific commercial photographer, Yucho Chow captured hundreds of portraits from 1906 - 1949. In our recreated studio, you can find vintage portraits of families and individuals that reflect Vancouver's diversity. Guests can have their own portrait taken with art-deco inspired frames and send it to family and friends as a virtual postcard. Theatre: Delve into the heart and soul of Vancouver's Chinatown in our theatre space. Hear the stories of the teenage Wong Brothers who built and flew a single-wing plane, a Cantonese opera singer, and more. Our films feature both contemporary Canadian artists and archival footage alike.
